Austria import regulations

European Union (Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom) has made it possible for member states to import without custom controls although spot checks may be made anytime.

If the shipping originated in a state outside the EU, then the regulations for travellers from non-member states are enforceable.

Allowed Commodities;
Cargo due for import into Austria from EU countries of items of a personal use that are free of duty charges:
• Cigarettes: 800
• Cigarillos (at the most 3 g each): 400
• Cigars: 200
• Tobacco: 1 kg
There are limits for the ammount of tobacco you can import from Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia.
• Spirits: 10 litres
• Wine (of which max. 60 litres of sparkling wine): 90 litres
• Beer: 110 litres

The necessary items needed for personal use during the length of stay may be brought into Austria free of custom charges and without any conditions, so long as there is no import restrictions.
